Downtown Access

On June 7, 2016, 115 members attended the Central Houston Membership breakfast at The Whitehall, to hear respected panelists discuss multimodal downtown transit access.

Dr. Carol Lewis, Director of the Center for Transportation Training and Research at Texas Southern University, moderated panelists who discussed the top priorities of their organizations with respect to the central city, the anticipated impacts of the Pierce Elevated moving the freeway east of the central business district, zip cars, real-time ride sharing, and METRO’s bus ridership.

Panelists included City of Houston representatives, Tina Paez, Director of Administration and Regulatory Affairs; Patrick Walsh, Director Planning and Development; Dale Rudick, Director of Public Works and Engineering; Pat Henry, Director of Project Development TxDOT Houston District and Tim Kelly, Executive VP, Operations, Public Safety & Customer Service for METRO.
